Beinn Chabhair is situated at the head of the Ben Glas Burn, 4½ kilometres north-east of the north end of Loch Lomond from where it is hidden behind the steep lower slopes. One does, however, get a good view of the hill from Glen Falloch near Derrydaroch where its principal feature, the long north-west ridge, is well seen rising from the glen over many humps and rocky knolls towards the summit.
The most direct route to Beinn Chabhair starts from Glen Falloch just north of Inverarnan at a bridge across the River Falloch which gives access to Beinglas Farm. Climb a path behind the farm towards the waterfall on the Ben Glas Burn and continue along a path beside the burn to reach Lochan Beinn Chabhair. From there climb north-east to reach the north-west ridge of the hill and follow it to the top.
