Ardrishaig - The 39 Steps

Description
From the gate by the Auchendarroch Hotel, follow the steps uphill, through the wood to emerge on a forest track. You will notice that many of the tree species in the woods are named on signs - the contrast between deciduous and evergreens are impressive.
Turn right and at the end of the track, right again to follow a path through a dense plantation and uphill into the open. Cross over a fence on a stile and turn left to join a path on the far side of the burn. Turn right to climb around the edge of the forest to a track. Turn left and then follow the track gently downhill. Look out for a large gate and go through this onto a path which run downhill to a track. Turn left and rejoin the outward route at the point where the path through the trees emerges onto the forest track.

The gate beside the Auchendarroch Hotel is signposted '39 Steps Woodland Walk', which is on a bypassed loop of the main A83 Campbeltown to Lochgilphead road, a quarter mile south of Ardrishaig.
