Beinn Ghuilean, Campbeltown

Distance Approximate Time Height Gain OS Map
7.2 kms 2 1/2 hours 190 metres Explorer 356: Kintyre South

Description

At the front of the Forest Enterprise board, turn left and follow the blue-topped posts which waymark this circular route. The highest point of the walk is a good place to pause and take in the panoramic view spanning the peninsula from the Kibrannan Sound, between Kintyre & Arran to the broad sweep of Machrihanish Bay and the hills of Jura beyond on the western coast. On the way round the walk, look out for the mixture of tree types - careful planting of the commerical forestry has retained the native decidous species.

Access Info

Start from either the centre of Campbeltown along Witchburn Road (B843) or from the small lay-by on Tomaig Road just below the cottage at Narrowfield.

Additional Info

There are no local facilities on the way but the centre of Campbeltown is only half a mile from Narrowfield where the walk starts and finishes.

More Info

This route is available in more detail with an associated map in the Footprint Guide to 'The Kintyre peninsula' available from Tourist Information Centres.
