Description
Start from the car park by the cafe at Ettrick Bay: follow the road by the shore, past Kildavanan Point, for 3 miles to the end of the surfaced road near Glecknabae. Continue along the track towards Kilmichael. Once past Kilmichael Cottage, but before the farm, cross the fields to St. Michaels Chapel. Always use gates or stiles to cross walls and fences and leave any gates as you find them.

Start from the car park beside the cafe at the north end of Ettrick Bay. This popular beach is some 4.5 miles from Rothesay on the B875, via Port Bannatyne and the A844. Argyll & Bute Council publish a useful Area Transport Guide with details of all bus and shared taxi services on the island. Copies are free and are available from the Discovery Centre in Rothesay.

Chambered cairns like the one at Kilmichael are found in many places on Bute.
