Description
Protruding into the Atlantic, Machrihanish, on the Campbeltown peninsula, is a good place to soak up the sea air.
This bracing seaside walk starts from the B843 in Machrihanish and follows it toward the sea along the Losset road. Follow the road through Machrihanish towards the sea and walk on as it curves to the south. Turn right onto a track by a house and continue to pass an aquaculture Centre. The foundations of the Fesseden Tower are close by; it transmitted one of the earliest transatlantic wireless telegraph signals, to Boston, in 1906. Further on bird lovers should detour to the hide at Uisaed as there are a wide range of species seen around these shores.
Continue as the track becomes a path which ends, as this route does, on the shore at The Galdrings. Enjoy the invigorating setting and views of Ireland's Antrim Coast on a fine day. You may also see basking sharks if you're lucky too!
