Bute is an island steeped in history, with stone circles and chambered cairns, beautifully remote locations of early Christian sites, Rothesay Castle, the ancestral home of a Royal Dynasty and the legacy of some of the finest examples of Victorian heritage to be found anywhere.
Access Info
The route begins at a Car Park just south of Kilchattan Bay in the south of the island and finishes near Port Bannatyne just north of the island's main town of Rothesay. Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) run regular services to the Isle of Bute.
