Aviemore - Boat of Garten

Description
This is a very picturesque linear walk which is suitable for all the family and has an added treat for the children (of all ages!).
Head onto the main street of Aviemore from the railway station and turn right towards shops and a car park adjacent to the police station which is about 200 yards away. From here pick up the village's orbital footpath which in turn leads to the waymarked Speyside Way.
This follows the River Spey and the railway line towards the small settlement of Boat of Garten, walking over heather moor and through copses of birch and old Scots pine, with dramatic views to the Cairngorms.
To return to Aviemore walk back via the outward route or better still, reminisce about rail travel in days gone by and catch the Strathspey (steam) Railway back to Aviemore - a wonderful way to end a lovely walk!
