Description

Ben Rinnes

An ascent of Ben Rinnes will reward you with excellent views in all directions, taking in much of North East Scotland and as far afield as Caithness. There are a number of different ways to the summit of Ben Rinnes - from to the south, from the distillery at to the north and from the high point of the road to the east. All are good and straightforward walks and the best way to enjoy this hill is probably to combine two routes to form a circuit. An ascent from the east on a good path followed by a descent northwards and back to your start point by the track along the east flank is recommended and is probably also the easiest.

Access Info

Your choice of route will decide which start point is used but the directions here relate to the route recommended above. From Dufftown follow the B9009 west for 3 km until an unclassified road turns off to the right.

Additional Info

There are several distilleries offering guided tours nearby: Glenfarclas, Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Tamnavulin and Cardhu.
