Description

Speyside Way waymark post

Apart from a short section along the Moray coast the Speyside Way follows the valley of the River Spey from it's mouth at Spey Bay to Aviemore at the foot of the Cairngorm mountains. The route is managed by Moray Council on behalf of Highland Council, the Cairngorms National Park Authority and Moray Council itself.

Along the route the Way passes through varied and spectacular scenery and through the famous Whisky Trail with spurs to the villages of Dufftown and Tomintoul adding to the variety.

The route follows paths throughout, is fully waymarked and is managed by a dedicated ranger service based in Aberlour which can be contacted on +44(0)1340 881266 or email: speyside.way@moray.gov.uk.

Access Info

Although it's possible to walk the Way in either direction, it is recommended that you start in the north, at Buckpool Harbour in Buckie where the walking is easiest and walk south towards Aviemore.

Public transport information relating to walking The Speyside Way can be found on the Way's website.
