Start from the war memorial by the green in the centre of Menstrie and walk along the east side of the burn towards the scout hall then turn right after 70yds and continue along the road out of the town. The surfaced road ends at Balquham, continue straight ahead along a track to reach Alva. Follow the road past the School, across Alva Burn and steeply downhill past the cemetery. Just after a sharp right hand bend turn left along a small footpath to join the road to Ochil Hills Woodland Park, turn left once more and walk uphill to reach the park. Walk past the car park, Farriers Hotel and at a bend in the track, continue straight ahead along a small footpath. Follow the footpath past the golf course to join the quarry road (beware of heavy lorries) on the outskirts of Tillicoultry, turn right to reach town centre.
