From Croy Bay at Goatsgreen to Culzean Park and back

Description
This walk starts on the shore at Croy Bay, at a house called Goatsgreen. There are magnificent views of Arran, Ailsa Craig and Culzean Castle as well as wildlife: seals, seabirds (there is a gannet colony at Ailsa Craig) herons etc. Just past shore cottages, a flight of more than 100 steps takes you into Culzean Park.
At this entrance there is no charge, so time can be spent exploring the grounds before following a circuit through woodland back to the shore.
Access Info
This walk is really only accessible by car, as the start point is off the main road. Leave the A719 just south of the junction with the B7023 at Balchriston Lodge. The entrance to the road is very hard to see, but there is a curve sign with a very small arm showing to the right, just before the turn off. Even people who have been before often have to turn back. Follow the road to the sea.
There is a branch to the left on the single-track road. Excellent parking at the shore is provided free by the National Trust for Scotland.
Additional Info
This walk enables you to enter Culzean free of charge if any of your passengers are not members.
