2.27 kms 00:45 (hrs:mins) 194 metres Explorer 366: Stirling & Ochil Hills West

Description

This walk starts from the car park at Alva Glen and takes in numerous waterfalls, wildlife and the 'smugglers cove'. Alva is a small town along the foot of the southern Ochils in Clackmannanshire.

The walk follows a path heading up the eastern side of Alva Glen, crossing numerous times over the Alva Burn and passing a number of waterfalls.  A steep climb up the the initial ascent of the sides of Craig Leith give excellent views of the glen and the valley beyond. Returning around the side of Craig Leith, views can be seen as far as Stirling, the Wallace Monument and Falkirk and beyond. Return on higher ground round Craig Leith. The more alert may also view a number of birds of prey at this point, prior to the descent through the golf course and back to the car park.
