Description
Explore Mugdock Country Park, which lies to the north of Glasgow and close to the Campsie Hills above Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch. The walk ends by the childrens play area, always a good incentive for keeping those little tired legs going! There are many other alternative walks which can be made within the Country Park.
This route offers a gentle, family-friendly, stroll past a pond and castle; the paths are ideal for buggies.
From the visitor centre walk past the duck pond to branch left at the end. Carry on until you come to an electricity pole and follow the main path round to the right. At the next junction go right, along the edge of wood's, to reach the ruins of Craigend Castle. Pass in front of the castle to reach a T-junction and go left, round Gallows Hill, and back to the start where yu can learn about the park's wildlife and history.
Access Info
From Glasgow take the A81 north towards Milngavie. Having passed the reservoirs, take the second road on the left, towards Mugdock. At the T-junction turn right. Follow this road to reach the country park entrance.
