Description

Route map

From the attractive little village of Blairlogie, the route ascends Dumyat, on the western edge of the Ochils, yielding fine views over Stirling and the River Forth. After a woodland path into the village, a short walk along the main road is necessary before turning uphill past Logie Kirk and Logie Old Kirk.

Then the pleasant lane ascends steadily through woods and emerges into the open. A path across the hillside is now taken, yielding views of the Wallace Monument, the city of Stirling and the river winding back and Forth to its estuary. Choose a fine day for this walk as these prospects, together with the nearby Ochils from Dumyat's summit, are sublime! The clear path down from the top joins a gravel track which looks over the little town of Menstrie, skirts a wood and returns to the car park via a woodland path with good views of the line of hills.

The walk is on the stiff side of moderate, based on the initially steep descent from Dumyat's summit.
