Description

Views over to the Lammermuir hills, a stunning range of hills running south west to north east in East Lothian

This route climbs deep into the Lammermuir Hills of East Lothian. It is a walk in three parts: A long but gentle climb southwards through cultivated land on a hill-path up to the col at 400m, followed by a rough ascent up Lammer Laws SW shoulder, to the top at 527m. The walk then joins another hill path, again at the col at 510m and descends northwards to Longyester. Finally, a long but picturesque return along very quiet country roads.

Access Info

The only feasible access is by car (the nearest bus service is to Haddington, 13km north of the start.) From Haddington, take the A6137 south for 11km, to Gilchriston, turn left and follow small road for 2km, after a sharp left stop at the second entrance.
