Description
Starting in the village of Kemnay, this walk goes through the policies of Fetternear Estate. It passes through open woodland close to the River Don. After crossing the Don it continues along narrow rural roads which offer good views over the river before returning to the village.
After leaving the car park, the walk passes through some of the streets of the village of Kemnay. Immediately on leaving the village, it enters the estate of Fetternear where the remains of Fetternear House and Bishop`s Palace are found. This was once the country seat of the bishops of Aberdeen. The first part of this section passes through deciduous woodland along tarred paths. These give way to farm tracks which continue through more pastoral woodland with views over the River Don. On leaving the estate grounds, the walk crosses the river via a pedestrian suspension bridge. After this it continues along quiet country lanes, which eventually lead back to Kenmnay village.
