Description
A walk of two very contrasting parts, starting in the village of Inverbervie and following close by the coast to the fishing village of Gourdon and then on to the start of the village of Johnshaven, where it leaves the coast. The return part rises away from the coast and returns through a much more rural landscape.
Starting at the seafront car park in the village of Inverbervie this walk follows a fairly level path along the coast. The rocky coastline is balanced with grassy banks on the landward side. This is an area rich in wild flowers, birds and butterflies. After reaching the small fishing village of Gourdon the coastal path continues on to the next village of Johnshaven. Here the route leaves the coast and climbs slightly to more agricultural scenery. This rural part of the walk is also rich in bird life and butterflies are also frequently found here. After following narrow grassy lanes the walk then returns to the village of Inverbervie where shops, pubs and food outlets are to be found.
