Shooting Greens, River Dee and views of the Feugh Valley

Distance Approximate Time Height Gain OS Map
11.27 kms 02:30 (hrs:mins) 120 metres Explorer 406: Aberdeen & Banchory

Description

This walk starts at a forestry car park and for the most part follows well-maintained forest tracks. After passing through mature woodland, the path descends to the banks of the River Dee. It follows the banks of the river for about a mile before rising again through open woodland, from which good views over the Dee Valley are provided.

After entering more mature woodland, the walk starts to descend and provides wonderful panoramic vistas over the valley of the River Feugh. The walk then continues back to the car park along a marked routeway.

Access Info

By car: about five miles west of Banchory turn left off the A93 at Potarch. Immediately after crossing the bridge, turn left and continue for about 2.5 miles until you reach the Shooting Greens forestry car park.

Additional Info

There are another four routes waymarked by the Forestry Commission. Leaflet available.
