Description

A rural walk in a city. This is a peaceful riverside walk along the banks of the River Dee in Aberdeen. Away from the bustle of the city it follows the banks of the river to Cults where it returns to the city's Duthie Park via the route of the former Deeside Railway line.

This walk starts in Aberdeen's Duthie Park gardens and follows closely the banks of the river Dee. It involves crossing a couple of very busy main roads but otherwise is a very quiet rural walk. After hugging the banks of the river it turns inland past a reservoir and nature reserve, before reaching the site of the former railway Deeside railway line. The walk continues along this until it returns to Duthie Park whose winter gardens are worth a visit at any time of year.
