Bennachie - Pine Walk

Description

An all ability trail through mature Scots pine woodland. There are various unusual woodland sculptures along the route from a small totem pole to a stone with a hole in it! Red squirrels can often be seen close to the centre or alternatively look out for nibbled cones on the path and forest floor!

Access Info

This walks states from the Bennachie Centre Car Park. To reach this car park And centre head to Chapel of Garioch and then look for signs to the centre. The centre is about 2 miles south west of Chapel of Garioch just off the road to Blairdaff.

Additional Info

Mammals: Red squirrels can occasionally be seen. Roe deer can sometimes be seen in the woodland clearings.

Birds: In the woods look out for great tits, coal tits, blue tit,long tail tits, chaffinch, wood warblers, chiff chaff and many more. Ask at the Bennachie centre for an up to date list of birds.

Habitats: In the pine woodland look out for patches of Creeping Lady's tresses which are seen in the early summer.
