Description

Whereas the Mountain Trail takes 3.5 to 4 hours, the Woodland Trail allows you to stretch your legs for 1 hour. It's steep in places, but the paths are good; stout shoes or boots are advised, particularly in wet weather, when the paths can be torrents.

There are numerous viewpoints and, with a Scottish Natural Heritage guide leaflet, the walk gives an insight into this remnant of the ancient Caledonian Forest. It's a very photogenic walk.

Access Info

The car park is at the lochside, about 2.5 miles west of Kinlochewe, on the A832. It's signposted Beinn Eighe Trails.(002651). No public transport.

Additional Info

There are shops, restaurant, hotels and toilets in nearby Kinlochewe. It's worthwhile going to the Visitor Centre (1.5 miles west of Kinlochewe) before you walk. As well as being interesting it will enable you to get a trail leaflet there (the vending machine at the car park is liable to breakdown). There are toilets there, too.
