Gruinard Bay - Inverianvie Falls

Distance Approximate Time Height Gain OS Map
3.62 kms 01:15 (hrs:mins) 150 metres Explorer 434: Gairloch & Loch Ewe

Description

The walk starts on one side of the car park, the beach is on the other. The path leads up a picturesque glen, through heather and bog myrtle, to the falls. From the highest point (150m) there is a good view back to Gruinard Bay and Gruinard Island. At its start the path is indistinct for a few metres, being grassy and not worn down; but a few metres up the river, it goes off grass on to heather and is quite clear.

Access Info

From Gairloch or Poolewe in the west, or from Dundonnell in the east, take the A832 to Gruinard Bay. The car park is at the mouth of the Inverianvie River (953898).

Additional Info

NOTE. This family walk is to the Lower Falls only. From there to the Upper Falls is not really a family walk, some scrambling being necessary.
