Description

Looking over to Lochinver and the distinctive peaks of Canisp (left) and Suilven (right)

Enjoy a wonderful walk which is perfect for all, including those with mobility difficulties, which provides stunning views over the remote and rugged Assynt lochs and mountains.

This walk is set amidst the jaw-dropping scenery of Assynt in the north-west Highlands. The path has been constructed so that it is suitable for wheelchairs and people of limited mobility. There are regular resting places along the path which passes the shores of the lochs of Loch Leitir Easaidh and Loch na h-Innse Fraoich and the path gradually rises to a viewpoint providing panoramic views of the surroundings mountains. Fishing is available at these lochs from the path for all including those with limited mobility and for wheelchairs.

Access Info

The walk starts from a car park adjacent to the path. The car park is about 9km east of Lochinver on the A837. Walk duration may be variable depending on the level of mobility of users.

Additional Info

There is a picnic area, composting toilet (suitable for wheelchairs), jetty and shelter at each of the lochs. In time there will soon be two specially adapted 'Pioner 13' boats providing disabled fishing facilities at the two lochs.
