Description

A heritage walk from Bigton across the unique ayre. The walk then does a circuit of the island visiting the ruins of the 12th century church site where pictish treasure was discovered. Look out for puffins, skua and St Ninian's well.

Access Info

From the A970 South mainland route take the B9122 and then an unclassified road to Bigton where there is parking near the shop.
Public bus service Mon - Sat.

Additional Info

The route crosses an ayre also known as a tombolo - this is a strip of sand connecting the island to the mainland.
