| Distance | Approximate Time | Height Gain | OS Map |
| 10 kms | 03:20 (hrs:mins) | 20 metres | Explorer 382: Arbroath, Montrose & Carnoustie |
Description
This walk can be started in Montrose or I suggest getting public transport or a taxi to the start point in Hillside. A good track follows the River North Esk upstream to Morphie Dam and Salmon Ladder and track and paths lead from there to the coastal sand dunes and back to Montrose. The return journey from the mouth of the North Esk can be made as described - along the track, or could be made along the beach. Afterwards the route can be to the Airfield Museum or to the cafe and facilities at Montrose Beach.
Access Info
There are no access problems for careful walkers and care should be taken not disturb golf activity needlessly. Salmon Angling takes place on the river throughout the year please give way to anglers and observe any reasonable requests.
Additional Info
There are buses and taxi services and all the usual facilities in Montrose.
