Description
Two and a half kilometres west of Kenmore on the south shore of Loch Tay is the small hamlet of Acharn. From Acharn a footpath rises steeply through beech woods past a narrow gorge where the Acharn Burn plummets over the Falls of Acharn. Above the falls the route rises less steeply and follows land-rover tracks over open moorland providing superb views over Loch Tay to Ben Lawers and Schiehallion. The route passes an ancient tumulus and a stone circle before fording the burn and returning down the west side of the falls which can be viewed from the balcony of a hermit's cave.
