Description

The extensive ruins of a medieval castle and the earth works of its predecessor, pleasant woodland, slat-marsh, the site of an Iron Age hill fort, plus wonderful views of Criffel on the other side of the Nith estuary and across the Solway. Be prepared for wet and muddy conditions, particularly on the stretch across the marshes.
