Description
Part of the Eskdale Prehistoric Trail, Castle O'er hillfort was once the home of a tribe that used its prominent position to watch for invading enemies and to keep an eye on their animals. The walk is waymarked but not across the hillfort to prevent damage. There is an orientation map board at the beginning of the walk

The car park for Castle O'er Hillfort is signposted off the minor road south of Eskdalemuir.
